Refer to the safe work procedures web page for direction on a range of hazardous materials used and hazardous activities undertaken within ANU.
For all observations, hazards and incidents please submit via the online ANU Incident notification form in HORUS.
If you wish to report a hazard that is not associated with an incident, please go to the Hazard Reporting form.
Workplace health & safety improvement plan
The Facilities and Services Division is committed to providing a workplace that is safe and healthy for all staff, students, contractors and visitors. To this end the Division has developed the 2015 Workplace Health & Safety Improvement plan (pdf 204KB) and the draft 2016 Work Health & Safety Improvement plan (pdf 204KB).

Workplace inspections are planned, systematic appraisals of the workplace, which:
Identify health, safety and environmental hazards;
Assess and control risks;
Ensure a safe and healthy working environment; and
Assist in complying with the University's OHS policies and procedures, thereby ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation, regulations, codes of practice and Australian standards.
Whilst conducting workplace inspections, health, safety and environmental issues can often be identified and resolved before any harmful event takes place. Regular workplace inspections also allow discussion with staff on health, safety and environmental issues.
